Dr Allison Butler graduated from the University of Nottingham in 1993 with a Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours) and again in 1995 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. She completed her vocational GP training in 1998, during which she also undertook diplomas in Family Planning (Sexual Health and Reproductive Medicine) and then in Dermatology.
In 2007, Allison moved to the Sunshine Coast with her young family and was awarded her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). Since then, she has worked across general practices and dedicated Women’s Health centres throughout the Coast.
Allison is passionate about all aspects of Women’s Health, including contraception, menstrual management, pre-natal, antenatal and postnatal care, weight management and hormone health etc. She is skilled in IUD and contraceptive implant insertions and removals, as well as pessary fittings for prolapse management. While Women’s Health remains a key focus, she enjoys providing care across the full spectrum of general practice.
In recent years, Allison has commenced studies in Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (ACNEM) and is excited to join a team of like-minded doctors and naturopaths as she expands her practice within the integrative health sphere. She is passionate about the integrative model, which looks beyond symptoms to understand their root causes. She believes that while conventional medicine offers powerful tools, a more holistic approach — one that asks why rather than just what — can lead to deeper healing and long-term wellbeing.
Since 2012, she has also worked as a GP Surveyor for Primary Care Accreditation, playing a key role in supporting quality improvement and best practice in clinics across Australia.
Outside of work, Allison enjoys walking her two dogs with her husband and can often be found exploring the bush in search of her next geocache.
